Posted on 12 February 2011

Wow!    Now, there isn’t often any major news regarding laws and weddings that is likely to get the goth community taking much, if any, notice.  However, the big news in the World of Weddings today is that night time weddings are to be allowed – I reckon that might at least raise the perfectly groomed, morticiaesque eyebrow of a few of you that read this page. Currently couples can only get married between 8am and 6pm under rules dating back to the Marriage Act of... Read more...

Posted on 23 August 2010

Whilst in contact with David of Lindsay Flemming last week, he suggested that you might like to know about the following:- “We are now introducing our new service, The Roadshow, initially in London, where we hire a location and bring all of our dresses down for people to see and try on.  Basically, we offer the same service as if you were to visit our studio.  We return to the same location every 8 to 10 weeks to arrange fittings.” What a fantastic idea! Introducing – Lindsay Flemming Couture

Posted on 22 August 2010

Here’s a lovely business based in Lanarkshire, that makes the most beautiful wedding dresses, all bespoke. I’ve recently been in touch with David Lindsay who looks after the admin and marketing of the company – this is what he told me:- “Lindsay Fleming was created thirteen years ago by Grace Lindsay and Julie Fleming, however Julie has since left the business.  Now I work with Grace (my wife), she does all of the creative work, designing and making the dresses, while I do all of the marketing and admin, and web design. Up until the last eighteen months we concentrated totally on Celtic/Medieval inspired dresses.  All gowns are made to measure so we do not have any stock but do have samples of each style for people to try on when they visit our studio.  All styles... Read more...

Where to Meet the Vendors – 1

Posted on 25 June 2010

It won’t be news to you if you’re reading this post, that there are no wedding fayre events that goth couples can go to that really cater for your tastes and requirements – (if anyone knows different please let me know). The only one that I have ever been aware of is the one that ran at The Met on Sundays during the Whitby Goth Weekend for a couple of years.  I exhibited there several times but it wasn’t particularly successful and subsequently ended, which begs the question, if a goth wedding fayre can’t succeed in Whitby during WGW would one succeed anywhere? Anyway, I digress somewhat.  I think it’s fair to say that it’s highly likely that the goth based businesses featured in our Directory won’t often attend any wedding fayres because goths... Read more...

Introducing – Debbie Carlisle Bouquets

Posted on 24 June 2010

Debbie Carlisle of Debbie Carlisle Bouquets is another vendor who I have befriended via Twitter. I have been intrigued by the range of alternatives to traditional fresh flower bouquets that there are around once you start looking.  I feel that it is fuelled to some extent by the trend towards vintage, but whether you are drawn to them because they are fashionable or not, they are also a perfect way to hold on to your bouquet as a keepsake for years to come. When I contacted Debbie about being included in my directory I received a very positive reply.  “I would absolutely love to be a part of your new website” she  enthused,  “I’d love to have the chance to work with some brides who want something really unusual.  I have loads of ideas buzzing around my head for... Read more...

Introducing – Claire Ogden Designs

Posted on 14 June 2010

Claire is one of the many contacts I have made through Twitter.  On looking through her website for the first time I realised that I had found someone who creates high quality jewellery, with a beautiful bohemian quality that was bound to appeal to my readers. Take time to look through Claire’s ranges and you’ll see a wide variety of pieces crafted from exquisite materials that will enhance any bridal outfit. I spoke to Claire last week.  She’s been very proactive of late, getting serious about reaching those who appreciate her work.  “All of my pieces are one offs”, she explained, “So once they’re gone that’s it.  However, I’m adding new pieces to the website all the time so people just need to keep a look out. “Any of the... Read more...
