Where to Meet The Vendors – Lindsay Flemming Couture Roadshow
Posted on 23 August 2010
Whilst in contact with David of Lindsay Flemming last week, he suggested that you might like to know about the following:- “We are now introducing our new service, The Roadshow, initially in London, where we hire a location and bring all of our dresses down for people to see and try on. Basically, we offer the same service as if you were to visit our studio. We return to the same location every 8 to 10 weeks to arrange fittings.” What a fantastic idea! From Thursday 2nd September at 4pm to Sunday 5th September at 7pm, Lindsay Fleming Couture will be at Dolphin House Apartments, Chichester Road, London, SW1V 3LX. If this has got you excited make sure to get on touch with them to book an appointment. I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to answer any questions you... Read more...
Introducing – Lindsay Flemming Couture
Posted on 22 August 2010
Here’s a lovely business based in Lanarkshire, that makes the most beautiful wedding dresses, all bespoke. I’ve recently been in touch with David Lindsay who looks after the admin and marketing of the company – this is what he told me:- “Lindsay Fleming was created thirteen years ago by Grace Lindsay and Julie Fleming, however Julie has since left the business. Now I work with Grace (my wife), she does all of the creative work, designing and making the dresses, while I do all of the marketing and admin, and web design. Up until the last eighteen months we concentrated totally on Celtic/Medieval inspired dresses. All gowns are made to measure so we do not have any stock but do have samples of each style for people to try on when they visit our studio. All styles... Read more...
Where to Meet the Vendors – 1

It won’t be news to you if you’re reading this post, that there are no wedding fayre events that goth couples can go to that really cater for your tastes and requirements – (if anyone knows different please let me know). The only one that I have ever been aware of is the one that ran at The Met on Sundays during the Whitby Goth Weekend for a couple of years. I exhibited there several times but it wasn’t particularly successful and subsequently ended, which begs the question, if a goth wedding fayre can’t succeed in Whitby during WGW would one succeed anywhere? Anyway, I digress somewhat. I think it’s fair to say that it’s highly likely that the goth based businesses featured in our Directory won’t often attend any wedding fayres because goths... Introducing – Debbie Carlisle Bouquets
Posted on 24 June 2010
Debbie Carlisle of Debbie Carlisle Bouquets is another vendor who I have befriended via Twitter. I have been intrigued by the range of alternatives to traditional fresh flower bouquets that there are around once you start looking. I feel that it is fuelled to some extent by the trend towards vintage, but whether you are drawn to them because they are fashionable or not, they are also a perfect way to hold on to your bouquet as a keepsake for years to come. When I contacted Debbie about being included in my directory I received a very positive reply. “I would absolutely love to be a part of your new website” she enthused, “I’d love to have the chance to work with some brides who want something really unusual. I have loads of ideas buzzing around my head for... Read more...
Introducing – Claire Ogden Designs
Posted on 14 June 2010
Claire is one of the many contacts I have made through Twitter. On looking through her website for the first time I realised that I had found someone who creates high quality jewellery, with a beautiful bohemian quality that was bound to appeal to my readers. Take time to look through Claire’s ranges and you’ll see a wide variety of pieces crafted from exquisite materials that will enhance any bridal outfit. I spoke to Claire last week. She’s been very proactive of late, getting serious about reaching those who appreciate her work. “All of my pieces are one offs”, she explained, “So once they’re gone that’s it. However, I’m adding new pieces to the website all the time so people just need to keep a look out. “Any of the... Read more...
Introducing…Gothic Wedding Photography
Posted on 31 May 2010
Now with a name like Gothic Wedding Photography it’s not too much of a mystery what’s on offer here. Gothic Wedding Photography is a sister project set up by Mr Mark Tierney, alongside his established wedding photography business, Tierney Photography. I asked Mark what had made him want to set up a whole new business aimed at the gothic community. “To be honest I’d just like to spread my wings a bit, rather than shooting regular weddings week after week.” he replied, “I’d love to find couples who were more adventurous when it comes to making use of the venue and surroundings as a backdrop to their wedding albums. For example, I was shooting a wedding a while back, which was taking place at a beautiful venue with gorgeous gardens and the bride... Read more...

Getting Married in Northern Ireland
Posted on 12 April 2010
In Northern Ireland, preliminaries may vary according to the method of solemnisation. The basics are: minimum age is 16, for both parties, but parental consent must be given for people under 18. the parties must arrange for two witnesses to be present at the marriage to sign the marriage register. Documentation required: if birth certificates of the people getting married are available it is helpful to the Registrar if they can be produced when the notice of marriage is given. if either party is from abroad an official travel identity document for that person should be produced. parties who have been previously married should produce documentation or evidence of the death of the former spouse, or the dissolution or annulment of the marriage. If getting married at the Registrar’s... Read more...
Getting Married in England and Wales
Posted on 12 April 2010
Unless you are marrying in the Church of England or Church of Wales by Banns or Common Licence, notice of marriage has to be given personally to your local superintendent registrar at the Register Office in the district where you both live. A notice of marriage states the names of the parties to the marriage, age, marital status, occupation, nationality and the intended venue for the wedding. Both of you must have lived in a registration district in England or Wales for at least seven days immediately before giving notice. If you both live in the same district, you should both attend your local register office together to give notices of marriage. If you live in different registration districts then each of you will need to give notice separately in your respective district. After giving... Read more...
